Service changes: The City has announced service and facility schedule changes for the Independence Day holiday. No refuse collections will occur on Tues, July 4. Collections will occur one day later than normal.
Fireworks: Keep yourself and others safe by not using fireworks. Fireworks are prohibited in Evanston because they are dangerous and can be distressing to individuals and pets that are sensitive to loud noises.

The shelter must nest a little longer
A construction delay is never fun, but at least this delay is for a cute reason! When the contractor for the Animal Shelter mobilized for construction, they discovered a nest of Killdeer eggs onsite. Killdeer belong to the Plover family and are protected by the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Construction won't proceed unless the plover eggs (and the hatchlings) can be protected. It's anticipated that the hatchlings will leave around late July.
That’s it for today's e-news. Thanks for reading!
Sincerely,
The City of Evanston Communications Team
