We've got the summer blues
Sway to the sounds of summer on Tues., June 27 at Baker Park! This next Starlight Concert in the Park will feature The Dig 3 Big band playing blues music beginning at 7 p.m. Don't forget your chairs, blankets and snacks!

Celebrate Independence Day on July 4
Evanston's beloved 4th of July celebration is back this year and better than ever! Celebrating 100 years of Evanston Fourth of July Association celebrations, the organization will host a full day of Independence Day activities on Tues., July 4, including a Kids Fun Run, parade, concert, and, of course, fireworks.
 Learn about a community responder model
Head to the Evanston Ecology Center on Tues., June 27 at 5 p.m. to learn what a community responder model is and how the City might use it to improve public safety. Unable to attend? Take our survey to learn more and provide your input.
 Get out and enjoy the weekend with local events!
Plan your picnic in the park: Join Central Street Evanston for a Takeout Picnic in the Park. Order takeout from one of the many Central Street restaurants, grab a picnic blanket, and listen to live music under the lights in Independence Park tonight, June 22.
Have a barkin' good time: Join the Evanston Animal Shelter for "Trot for Tails" on Sat., June 24. This two-mile walk will kick off at 10 a.m. at Centennial Park. There will also be a free microchip clinic, a dog agility course, vendors, kids activities, pet-related goods for sale and more.
Get a glimpse of natural beauty: Join the Evanston Environmental Association (EEA) on Sun., June 25, from noon to 5 p.m. to see some of the most creative and beautiful gardens our city has to offer during the Evanston Garden Walk. Proceeds fund summer camp scholarships for kids.

It's time to get rid of some of those unwanted items in your home. Recycle electronics, dispose of unused prescription medicine, and securely shred documents at the City's annual drive up, drop off "Evanston Recycles" event on Sat., July 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at ETHS, 1600 Dodge Ave.
