Celebrate and honor Juneteenth this weekend!
The City, in partnership with Evanston Present and Future, is honoring Juneteenth with a parade and celebration this Saturday.
Parade: The celebration will kick off at 10 a.m. with a Juneteenth Parade, beginning in the parking lot of the Robert Crown Community Center and ending at Ingraham Park. View the parade route.
Celebration: After the parade, enjoy an afternoon of art, music, food and community at Ingraham Park, located just west of the Morton Civic Center.
Flag Raising Ceremony: The City hosted a Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony yesterday to honor the raising of the first Juneteenth flag at the Morton Civic Center flag pole. Check out some photos of the ceremony.
Holiday Hours: The City has announced facility closures and service schedules for the Juneteenth holiday on Mon., June 19.

Don't miss the City's next Starlight concert featuring The Midnight Sun Band playing funk and soul music on Tues., June 20, at 7 p.m., at Twiggs Park, located at Simpson Street and Dodge Avenue. Bring your friends, family, blankets and snacks!
 Free meals for Evanston youth
Free cold breakfasts and lunches are available to youth ages 1 to 18 years old, Monday through Friday, at five locations throughout Evanston as part of the Youth Summer Food Program. The program runs through August 11. View meal menus.

Join Central Street Evanston for a Takeout Picnic in the Park. Order take out from one of the many Central Street restaurants, grab a picnic blanket, and listen to live music under the lights in Independence Park on June 22.

Breaking ground for the new Evanston Animal Shelter
 The City hosted a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new Evanston Animal Shelter yesterday with members of City Council, the Evanston Animal Shelter staff and board, Cook County Commissioner Josina Morita, Mayor Biss, and City staff in attendance! Demolition of the existing facility and construction of the new facility will begin this month. Learn more about this exciting project.
