Skokie Man Charged with UUW after Vehicle Pursuit
 EVANSTON, IL - On May 30, 2023 at approximately 1:20 a.m. an Evanston Police Officer was in the area of Chicago Avenue and Dempster Street when he spotted a silver Toyota Camry. The Toyota had been taken in a vehicular hijacking that occurred in Skokie about an hour earlier. The officer attempted to stop the Toyota, but it fled. The officer pursued the Toyota until the driver lost control in the 2100 block of Jackson Street. The Toyota struck a curb rendering the vehicle not drivable. All four occupants fled the Toyota.
One of the occupants, Antoine Wells, was apprehended after a foot pursuit. A loaded Glock 17 was located and recovered in Wells' path of flight. Wells was taken into custody and transported to the Evanston Police Department for further investigation.
A second loaded firearm, a Ruger model 57, was recovered from the vehicle. There are no charges relating to this firearm at this time.
Officers continued their investigation. Wells admitted to possessing the Glock. The investigation revealed the Wells did not have a concealed carry license or a FOID card. The Cook County State's Attorney's Office reviewed the investigation and approved felony charges for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
A second occupant was released without charges and turned over to Skokie PD as part of their vehicular hijacking investigation. The driver and the fourth occupant were not apprehended.

Court Information
Wells is currently being held in Cook County Jail with no bond. His next court date is at the Skokie Courthouse on June 7.
