Dear 8th Ward Residents,
I am excited to invite you to our upcoming ward meeting, which will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 6 p.m. This month, we will be meeting in person at Peckish Pig, located at 623 W. Howard St.
My decision to hold the meeting at a local business is aimed at supporting our community and encouraging residents to shop local. I invite you to join me for the meeting and consider enjoying dinner or a beverage at Peckish Pig before, during, or after the meeting.
Our guest speakers for this month's meeting include:
- Sarah Flax, Evanston’s Director of Community Development and David Block Development Director for Evergreen - Successes and Challenges of the Ann Rainey Senior Apartment Project:
Sarah Flax and David Block will be joining us to discuss the Ann Rainey Apartment project. They will provide insights into the successes and challenges faced during the project's implementation. It is an excellent opportunity to learn more about this important development and its impact on our community.
- Rachel Williams - Reimagining Public Safety and Community Responder Models:
I am delighted to welcome Rachel Williams, the new Reimagining Public Safety Administrator, to our meeting. Rachel will be seeking your input and thoughts on community responder models. She is particularly interested in hearing about your perspectives, concerns, preferences, and ideas regarding community responder models. This is a valuable chance for you to contribute to shaping the future of public safety in our community.
- Evanston Transit Alliance - Improving Bike Infrastructure:
Representatives from the Evanston Transit Alliance will be joining us to discuss their plans to enhance Evanston's bike infrastructure. Their aim is to ensure that Evanston is no longer known as "The place where the trails end." This is an exciting opportunity to learn about upcoming initiatives and share your feedback on how we can make Evanston more bike-friendly.
- Officer Brooks - Public Safety Trends:
Officer Brooks will be providing us with an update on the latest public safety trends in our community. This is an important opportunity to stay informed about recent developments and address any concerns you may have.
I encourage you to actively participate in these discussions and take advantage of the opportunity to have your voice heard. Your engagement and input are crucial to creating positive change within our ward.
Please mark your calendars for Thursday, June 1, at 6 p.m. at Peckish Pig. I look forward to your presence at the meeting, supporting local businesses, and working together to make our community even better.
Sincerely,
Devon Reid Councilmember, 8th Ward dreid@cityofevanston.org
