Oakton Street Improvement Project to Begin the Week of June 5

Work on the City's Oakton Street Improvement Project is expected to begin the week of June 5 and continue through the end of November, weather permitting. 

Project work includes installing new sidewalks, a shared use pedestrian/
bicycle path, intersection crosswalks, street lights and bike route signage. Enhancements will also be made to traffic signals, existing crosswalks, light fixtures and intersections. Additionally, ADA improvements will be made to sidewalks, crosswalks, traffic signals, transit stops and landscaping.

During construction, traffic lanes in each direction will be maintained on Oakton Street. Portions of the existing sidewalks and crosswalks will be closed as needed until work is completed. "No Parking" signs will be posted in specific work 48 hours prior to the start of work. While construction activities will create some inconveniences for abutting residents and businesses, every effort will be made to minimize issues.

Property owners are asked to identify and mark any irrigation sprinkler system in the parkway with a flag prior to the start of construction to prevent damages to private systems.

Contractor

The contractor for this improvement project Landmark Contractors, Inc., located at 11916 W. Main St., Huntley, IL. The contractor is contractually responsible for the means and methods of the work.
