Contracted Pavement Patching to Begin the Week of May 15
The City has contracted patching work on large areas of asphalt pavement throughout Evanston beginning the week of May 15. Work is scheduled to be completed in six to eight weeks, weather permitting.
This project will involve removing the top two inches of distressed and failing asphalt and replacing it with a fresh, smooth asphalt surface material. Once the asphalt is laid, compacted and cooled, the street will be opened and ready for traffic. Work is anticipated to improve the condition of approximately 31,000 square yards of pavement in over 200 locations across the city.
During construction, motorists should expect minor delays near work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews. “No Parking” restrictions should be short in duration and specific to the daily work zones. “No Parking” signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of work and will be removed upon completion.
