Evanston schools being placed on soft lockdown as precautionary measure
EVANSTON, IL - The Evanston Police Department is advising all Evanston K-12 schools and daycares to go on soft lockdown at this time as police search for a potentially emotionally disturbed person.
There have not been any threats made against Evanston schools. This is a precautionary measure due to police activity related to this investigation. Parents do not need to take any action.
Police do not believe there is any immediate threat to the public at this time; a shelter-in-place order for the general public has not been issued.
The Evanston Police Department will provide frequent updates on Twitter @EvanstonPD as this investigation continues. Please contact the Evanston Police Department at 911 to report any safety issues or suspicious behavior.

During a soft lockdown, teachers lock their doors and continue teaching.
