Refunds will be provided for previously issued passes
EVANSTON, IL - Evanston residents and their pets can now access the Evanston Dog Beach for free after the City’s Parks and Recreation Board approved a staff proposal to eliminate resident fees for the 2023 season.
Free Dog Beach passes are available to pick up in person at five Evanston community centers (see locations below) for those who live in zip codes 60201 or 60202. A Dog Beach pass is still required for entry to the beach.
To receive a Dog Beach pass, Evanston dog owners must:
The Parks and Recreation Board also approved a price reduction for a second dog beach pass for non-residents, from $200 to $75.
City staff recommended the fee changes to the Parks and Recreation Board following a listening session with community members and stakeholders.
“The Evanston Dog Beach is a unique and beloved amenity for the Evanston community and beyond,” said Tim Carter, recreation manager. “We’re pleased to be able to remove and reduce cost barriers to ensure that all community members and pets can access and enjoy the beach safely.”
The City has established a dog beach operations fund to support dog beach operations and maintenance. Community members can support the Dog Beach by making a contribution to the fund.
As a reminder, dogs are not allowed on any other Evanston beaches.

Residents who already purchased a 2023 Dog Beach pass will automatically receive a refund. Non-residents who purchased two or more dog beach passes will be refunded for the additional cost.
