Aging Well Conference is back for 2023
After a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aging Well Conference is back. Evanston community members are invited to celebrate Older Americans Month at the City’s 22nd Aging Well Conference.
This year’s celebration will include three events over four days: an Aging Well Film Night, Aging Well Conference, and Hoops for the Ages basketball tournament. Attendance is free for all events.
The 2023 Aging Well Film Night will take place on Wednesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. in Bobby's Room at the Levy Senior Center. It will feature the film Team Dream. In this short documentary film, we meet close friends Ann Smith and Madeline Murphy Rabb in their final days of preparation for the 2022 National Senior Games.
The Aging Well Conference is scheduled for Friday, May 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Levy Senior Center. This free, half-day conference for older persons and their care partners presents an array of educational workshops on topics including health and wellness, safety, nutrition, technology, legal issues, financial planning, and the arts. You can sign up for the event starting on Monday, March 20.

February Thrive with Pride Cafe - Managing Stress and Trauma: The Community Resiliency Model
The Community Resiliency Model (CRM) is a resiliency informed approach to trauma and toxic stress centered on the idea that people are resilient. With it, people can learn to cultivate skills of well-being and how to reduce suffering. CRM prompts us to ask not only what is wrong, but what is right about each of us, and what are our strengths. CRM is about empowerment, and it teaches that regardless of our external stressors, we can develop skills that help us widen our resiliency zone and enable us to show up as our best selves.
Join Maureen Burns from The HAP Foundation as she leads participants through the model and how to incorporate resiliency skills into our lives.
Join us on Tues., Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. through Zoom or by calling 312-626-6799 and entering ID 966 6129 4106 at prompt.
