In-person 7th Ward Meeting, Tuesday, January 31
Please join me on Tuesday, January 31, at 7 p.m. to share your thoughts about a possible event-based, resident-only parking restriction in the neighborhoods surrounding NU’s athletic campus — to be in effect for concerts and men’s basketball games.
The Special Event Zone would include the residential blocks west and north of the North Shore Channel, east of Green Bay Road, and south of Isabella. The metered spaces on Central Street and Poplar Avenue would not be affected.
Following our discussion of this parking proposal, we will have an open conversation about the proposed Ryan Field project. I look forward to hearing your views about the proposed new stadium and the university’s stated interest in holding concerts at Ryan Field.
We will meet at 7 p.m. in Room 2404 on the second floor of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave..
4th Special Topic Meeting, Wednesday, Feb. 8
Our fourth Ryan Field “special topic” meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 8, at 7 p.m. This meeting will focus on alcohol sales for consumption in the new stadium facility, and we will hear from Levy Catering about their first month of alcohol sales at Welsh-Ryan arena.
In 2019, the liquor code was amended to allow the sale of alcohol for consumption in university facilities with a seating capacity of 7,000-8,000 persons, i.e., in Welsh-Ryan Arena. The university now intends to seek an amendment to the liquor code to permit the sale of alcohol for consumption in its new stadium.
