Evanston Police Investigate an Attempted Kidnapping
EVANSTON, IL - On January 23, 2023, at approximately 4:00 p.m. Evanston Police responded to an attempted kidnapping that took place in the 1200 block of Fowler Avenue. Officers met with the victim, an 18 year-old female resident of Evanston, at her place of employment in the 2400 block of Main Street.
Officers interviewed the victim and she provided them the following account. Approximately 20 minutes earlier the victim was walking south bound in the 1200 block of Fowler Avenue on her way to work. While she was walking she observed a small newer gray 4-door vehicle driving towards her. The vehicle parked across the street. Two male offenders exited the vehicle and approached her. The offenders then grabbed and picked up the victim. The victim was able to fight and free herself from the offenders. She then escaped to her place of employment by fleeing on foot. The victim was not injured in this incident.
The victim did not know the race or ages of the offenders. One offender was wearing a gray hoodie, black pants, and a black ski mask. The second offender was in all black clothing, including a black hoodie and black ski mask. There are no additional vehicle descriptors.
The Evanston Police Department continues the investigation. Even though the investigation has not revealed any continued threats to the public, the Evanston Police Department advises the community to use caution and report any suspicious circumstances.
