The Evanston Public Library has been a part of this community for almost 150 years and is proud to be a special “third space.” As forces in the world seem to threaten both intellectual freedom and access to reliable information, libraries become a crucial place of refuge.

For example, books are being banned at a higher rate than ever before, and those bans disproportionately target the voices of marginalized communities, attempting to erase BIPOC (The Hate U GiveOut of Darkness) and LGBTQIA+ (Melissa (formerly titled George), Gender Queer) stories. The Evanston Public Library, meanwhile, has implemented new systems to diversify our collection and the voices it includes.

EPL exists because a community of people realized that collective resources stretch much farther than individual ones. Your gift of any size to the Evanston Public Library is an investment in your community and helps provide access to information and services to anyone that wants it.

With only a few days left in 2022, we are almost, but not quite, at our annual fundraising goal. In an effort to help us meet our goal, a loyal Library supporter has issued a matching challenge through the end of the year: all gifts received from now until December 31st will be MATCHED up to $10,000! The year isn't over - there's still time to help provide access to all forms of knowledge and literacy.

Don't delay - you can double your impact in 2022. Thank You!

P.S. You can spread your Library Love across the whole year when you set up monthly recurring donations! Just $10 a month helps EPL sustain and grow its resources. Select “Recurring Donation” with the amount you want to give each month when you make a gift online.

Together we are the Library!

For almost 150 years, the Library has provided educational, culturally-rich resources for all residents, helped children prepare for school through the joys of reading and learning, celebrated Evanston’s diversity, and helped residents find information they seek. The Library is more than a building of books; it is a place to meet, connect, learn, and explore. To learn more, visit www.epl.org.
