Program Highlight: Curious Kids Club

The Evanston Public Library is overflowing with resources, programs, materials, and more. There’s so much going on that you might have missed some of the wonderful work EPL is doing in the community.

For example, the Curious Kids Club was introduced in 2021 using unrestricted funds from Library donors. This program removes barriers that face families with limited time and resources by delivering materials to their homes once a month. The curated Spanish- and English-language books and activities give kids free access to literacy tools they would not otherwise have.

The program expanded in 2022, from 88 to 110 families served, which was partially made possible through a grant from the Evanston Community Foundation. Even with this expansion, there is a waiting list for the limited spaces in the program, with more families who would like to participate than we are able to accommodate.

Together we are the Library!

For almost 150 years, the Library has provided educational, culturally-rich resources for all residents, helped children prepare for school through the joys of reading and learning, celebrated Evanston’s diversity, and helped residents find information they seek. The Library is more than a building of books; it is a place to meet, connect, learn, and explore. To learn more, visit www.epl.org.
