 Mayor's Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive
Register to Receive Food and Toys
Families who wish to participate in the Mayor's Holiday Food, Book & Toy Drive to receive toys and/or food items must register by calling 847-448-4311 (or dial 311 in Evanston) between Tuesday, November 29 and Monday, December 12.
Make donations November 4 through December 9
Please bring new, unwrapped toys, books and/or non-perishable food items to the lobby of one of our convenient Evanston drop-off sites. Suggested food items: stuffing, green beans, yams and corn, as well as mac and cheese and cornbread mix (please check expiration dates).

 Four fall cleanup reminders

Street cleaning continues through Thurs., Dec. 15. View the schedule, which includes additional fall dates for residential streets.

Gas-powered leaf blowers are no longer permitted for use as of Dec. 1. Electric-powered leaf blowers are not subject to seasonal restrictions.

Yard waste will be collected through Thurs., Dec. 8. That means next week is the final week for 2022 collections!

Food scraps can be composted this winter as part of Collective Resource Compost's winter gap program.

 Menorah Lighting & Hanukkah Celebration

Date: Monday, Dec. 19, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Location: Fountain Square, Davis St. and Orrington Ave., Evanston
The entire Evanston community is invited to gather at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, to celebrate Hanukkah and ignite a public menorah erected at Fountain Square. The celebration will feature greetings from Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss and Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. The celebration will include live music, an LED robot dancer and Hanukkah treats.
Evanston's menorah is one of more than 15,000 large public menorahs sponsored by Chabad in more than 100 countries around the world, including in front of landmarks such as the White House, the Eiffel Tower, and the Kremlin, helping children and adults of all walks of life discover and enjoy the holiday message.
