Ryan Field — 3rd Special Topic Meeting, December 15
Please join me on Thursday, Dec. 15, at 7:00 p.m. for our third “special topic” meeting about the proposed new stadium facility. We will discuss Event Day Management issues, including traffic and parking, crowd control and safety issues.

Idea Gathering Meeting for Stadium Park, Plazas, Dec. 6
The proposed new stadium facility includes a “family park” and several plaza areas outside the stadium. Community members are invited to share their ideas for activities and uses that they would like to see take place in these areas at an in-person meeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Dec. 6, in the Wilson Club, 2nd floor at the Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Reimagining Independence Park, January 10
Please mark your calendars for the first community meeting to gather input regarding potential improvements to Independence Park. City staff and the park design team want to hear your ideas for what you would like to see at the park and what amenities would strengthen the neighborhood.
The meeting will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 10, in the Blue Room at the Chandler-Newberger Community Center, 1028 Central Street.
Tree Lighting, Santa and More, Dec. 3
Bring your families to Fountain Square to watch the annual tree lighting on Sat., Dec. 3 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Enjoy holiday performances by Evanston Children's Choir, NU Purple Haze and a brass quintet. The tree lighting will take place at 5:30 p.m. after which Santa will have photo ops at the Merion, 1615 Chicago Avenue.
Mayor’s Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive
Give back this holiday season by donating new, unwrapped toys, children's books, and non-perishable staple food items as part of the Mayor's Holiday Food, Book and Toy Drive. The donation drive runs through December 9.
Evanston Symphony Orchestra Holiday Concert, Dec. 11
The Evanston Symphony Orchestra presents its Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 11, 3:00 p.m., on the ETHS Auditorium stage. This is a concert performed in collaboration with Evanston Dance Ensemble, Chicago Ballet Arts, Evanston Children's Choir, North Shore Choral Society, the Evanston Symphony Gospel Choir, led by Rev. Ken Cherry, Santa and elves. It's quite the production! It is a very family friendly concert, and all are welcome.
Participatory Budgeting Event, Ecology Center, Dec. 10
Participatory Budgeting Evanston is hosting its next Idea Collection Assembly on Saturday, Dec. 10, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd.
Participatory budgeting is a process where community members can directly decide how to spend $3 million on issues they care about. During the process, community members will submit ideas for how to spend the money, develop ideas into proposals, and vote on how to allocate funds.
At this Idea Collection Assembly, you can submit ideas on how to spend the money and learn how to become a budget delegate who will develop submitted ideas for next summer’s ballot.
