Share your thoughts on lakefront parks and more
Following record high lake levels, which resulted in flooding and infrastructure damage in recent years, the City has begun long-term planning for shoreline repairs and potential lakefront improvements. As part of this process, we want to hear from you about your use of lakefront parks and amenities. Take the survey!

New COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Vaccine Approved
The Evanston Health & Human Services Department and IDPH have adopted CDC recommendations for both the Moderna and Pfizer bivalent booster vaccines, which target the original coronavirus strain and the omicron BA.4 and BA.5 subvariants accounting for the vast majority of current COVID-19 cases.
Who can get the bivalent booster vaccine? Moderna bivalent boosters are authorized for individuals 18 years and older and Pfizer for individuals 12 years and older. With both vaccines, individuals must wait two months after completing their initial vaccination series or their last booster shot.
Where can I receive the bivalent vaccine? Contact your local pharmacy or primary care physician to get your booster, or visit www.vaccines.gov to schedule an appointment convenient for you.
Due to the wide availability of vaccines at pharmacies and other locations, the City will be focused on providing booster vaccines to Evanston residents who are homebound due to medical conditions or a disability. If you fit this criteria or know someone who does, please complete the City’s In-Home Bivalent COVID-19 Vaccine Booster survey.
Monkeypox Update
Evanston is currently reporting nine Monkeypox cases and one hospitalization. To learn more about Monkeypox symptoms, preventions, isolation, how it spreads, and the criteria for vaccinations at this time, please visit the City's website. You can also find vaccination locations for those who meet the criteria.
No mass vaccination events have been scheduled at this time for community members or staff. While any person can get Monkeypox, the vaccine is not recommended for the general public at this time.

Ongoing gun buyback program
Did you know Evanston residents can turn in an operational firearm to police at any time in exchange for $100? Just call 311 or the Evanston Police Department non-emergency line at 847-866-5000. A police officer will pick up the unwanted firearm at your address and provide you with a voucher that can be exchanged for $100 at the City Collector’s Office.
Firearms should not be brought to the police department unless prior approval has been granted from a police department supervisor. Firearms should never be brought to the Morton Civic Center. An officer will call you after a request is made and arrange for pickup at your residence.
Have unwanted clothes, shoes or household goods?
The City has contracted with Simple Recycling to provide residents with a free, convenient way to dispose of unwanted clothing and other household goods. Learn more.
