Visit McGaw YMCA for free next week with your library card
To celebrate National Read a Book Day (Tuesday, Sept. 6), the McGaw YMCA and Evanston Public Library are inviting adults 18 and older to use their library cards to enjoy free visits to the McGaw YMCA, 1000 Grove Street, Sept. 6-11.
Register now, then bring your library card, State ID, and proof of COVID-19 vaccination to your visit.

September is Suicide Prevention Month
One of the most common misconceptions about suicide is that talking about it will plant the idea for a person who is not already contemplating it. In fact, starting conversations about suicide and other difficult and stigmatized topics can help people get the help they need. Join Allison Herman of Hope for the Day to learn helpful language around these topics, why we tend to say “we’re fine” when we’re not, and how to build a community that fosters proactive environments. Art & Reading classes for adults
We're launching Grow Share Belong, a series of weekly classes for creative adults who may have missed out on critical learning. The classes are taught by an artist and an adult literacy specialist. If you or someone you know would enjoy growing as an artist and a reader, sign up! Classes meet Fridays 10-11:30 a.m. Sept. 30-Nov. 11.

Beer and yoga for a good cause Sept. 17 at Temperance
Voted one of Chicago Magazine's Best of Chicago, the Temperance Trikonasana series brings Jenny Arrington's “Rebel Human Way” class to the Temperance Beer Co. brewery for a good cause. Do some yoga, have some beer, and learn about everything going on at EPL. Tickets are $30 and 100% of your ticket fee will go directly to supporting the library.

Join the PEPL on Sept. 12
The Partners of the Evanston Public Library (PEPL) is a new non-profit, 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to support the Evanston Public Library in its work. PEPL, an independent group, will meet on Sept. 12 at 7 p.m. at the Robert Crown Branch for all who are interested in joining, supporting and volunteering with them. Check out the PEPL site for more.
