Guaranteed Income applications open Monday
The City and Northwestern have partnered to launch a Guaranteed Income Pilot Program, which will provide 150 households in Evanston with direct monthly financial assistance for one year.
Eligibility: Participants must live in Evanston in a household whose income is at or below 250 percent of the Federal Poverty Line and fit into one of the following groups: individuals ages 18 to 24 years old, individuals ages 62 years and older, and undocumented community members.
How to Apply: The application period will be open from August 15 through August 29. Visit cityofevanston.org/gi to apply!

Don't forget to pay your 2023 Wheel Tax
The payment period is open for Evanston residents to pay for their City of Evanston wheel tax, residential parking permits, and residential parking passes for 2023. Preprinted renewal notices have been mailed to residents with an online renewal ID (Link Code) and instructions. Learn more.
Note: The Collector's Office will be closed for the remainder of the week due to a COVID-19 exposure. The office will reopen on Mon., Aug. 15. Online payments will remain available and replies to emails will be responded to within 24 hours.
Three reasons to get out on Saturday!
Health & Wellness Day at West End Market: Reclaim your health at the West End Market, located at Church Street and Dodge Avenue, on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Experience over 20 different health and wellness vendors alongside local makers.
End of Summer Fest: Stop by James Park on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. for free food, games and activities, giveaways, community resources and more. This event is being put on in partnership with District 65 and Evanston Township High School.
Starlight Movie in the Park: Head to Baker Park, Keeney Street and Forest Avenue, on Saturday evening to enjoy a showing of the movie "Smallfoot". The movie will kick off at 7 p.m.
COVID-19 Update
Cases: Evanston reported 119 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last seven days, compared to 163 for the week prior. The current seven-day moving average of daily confirmed cases is 17.00.

Monkeypox Update
As of today, Illinois is reporting 734 Monkeypox cases, of which 584 including 30 hospitalizations are from Chicago. Evanston is reporting seven cases and no hospitalizations at this time. While anyone can become infected with Monkeypox, the transmission and outbreaks have mainly been found in patients who identify as gay, bisexual, or other men who have sex with men.
To learn more about Monkeypox symptoms, prevention, isolation, how it spreads and the current criteria for vaccinations for Evanston residents, please visit the City's website.
No mass vaccination events have been scheduled at this time for community members or staff. While any person can get Monkeypox, the vaccine is not recommended for the general public at this time.

End-of-season schedule for swimming beaches
With seasonal lifeguard and beach staff returning to school, the City has adjusted beach operations to ensure public safety. Beginning Mon., Aug. 15, swimming will only be available at Clark and Lee Street beaches for the remainder of the season during normal hours. The public will have access to the sand area of all other beaches, but swimming will be prohibited.
Celebrate Black female musicians through the ages
Enjoy a musical journey celebrating the accomplishments of Black female musicians from the early 20th century to present day. Purchase your tickets to see "Exceptional Black Muses: A Musical Journey With An All-Black Women String Quintet" at Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre on August 20 & 21.
Another Starlight Movie in the Park!
Head to Dawes Park, 1700 Sheridan Rd., on Tues., Aug. 16 for a showing of the movie "Dog" under the stars. Bring your blankets, chairs and snacks! The movie will begin at 7 p.m.
Upcoming construction projects
- The CTA will be completing Purple Line track work at Isabella Street between the Central and Linden stations from Aug. 11 through 20. During construction, Isabella Street will be closed between Ashland and Ridge Avenues. View a detour map.
- The City will be completing asphalt pavement crack sealing at approximately 30 locations throughout Evanston beginning the week of August 15. Drivers should expect short delays in specific work zones as flaggers route traffic around work crews.
