7th Ward Meeting, Tuesday, August 9
Please join me for a virtual 7th Ward meeting on Tues., Aug. 9, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. to discuss the City’s plans to resurface Poplar Avenue from Livingston to the dead-end south of Colfax, reconstruct the existing Metra parking lot (City Lot 54), and replace the water main between Central and Harrison.
The Metra parking lot will also be shifted three feet to the east in order to eliminate the need to lease that property from Union Pacific. This shift will cause a street width reduction of three feet. To accommodate the reduction in street width, residential parking on the east side of Poplar south of Lincoln will be relocated to the parking lot and parking in the Metra lot north of Central will change from head-in parking to angled parking.
While this project will have the greatest impact on Poplar residents, the neighborhoods east of Poplar will be affected during construction as parking from Poplar will spill over into the adjacent neighborhoods.
Chris Venatta, senior project manager, will give a presentation at the meeting detailing the scope, schedule, and phasing of the work and then answer your questions. I hope to see you on August 9.
