'Evanston Recycles' returns this Saturday
It's time to get rid of unwanted items in your home! Recycle electronics and securely shred documents at the "drive up, drop off" "Evanston Recycles" event this Sat., July 9, from 9 a.m. to noon, at ETHS. Only electronic waste and documents for shredding will be collected.

Join Mayor Biss and the Evanston RoundTable for a Town Hall Meeting on Tues., July 12, at 7 p.m., to discuss the City's search for a new city manager. The event will be held in person at the Morton Civic Center (Parasol Room) and streamed live on City Channel 16.

Cases: Evanston reported 226 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last seven days, compared to 225 for the week prior. The current seven-day moving average of daily confirmed cases is 32.29.
COVID-19 Community Risk Level: MEDIUM
Hospitalizations: View local COVID-19 hospitalizations.

The City’s Redistricting Committee is beginning the process of redrawing ward boundaries. Learn about the proposed process and provide initial feedback at an upcoming virtual town hall meeting. The English town hall is Wed., July 13 at 7 p.m. and the Spanish town hall is Wed., July 20 at 7 p.m.
Virtual parade and fireworks
In the wake of Monday's tragic event, the City made the decision to cancel the 4th of July Parade and celebrations. Our thoughts and condolences remain with our neighbors to the north. A link to watch the parade and fireworks from previous years is available evanston4th.org.
Landscaping companies: buying an electric leaf blower?
The City's Entrepreneurship Support Grant Program has expanded to include financial assistance of up to $3,000 for Evanston-based landscaping companies to purchase commercial grade electric-powered leaf blowers and/or accessory battery packs. Apply online today!
Artist fellowship opportunity
Economic Security for Illinois is offering 6 to 8 Chicagoland artists the opportunity to participate in a one year fellowship. Selected Fellows will receive a $20,000 award and will engage with their cohort on narrative change strategy. Learn more and apply by August 1.

Evanston Made and Downtown Evanston will host their inaugural four-day Plein Air Art Festival from July 14 through 17. During the festival, artists will create, sell and exhibit art in the Plein Air Style. The festival will end with a competition on Sun., July 17, judged by Master Plein Air Painter Don Yang.
