The City of Evanston is beginning a project to rehabilitate large diameter sewer on Greenleaf Street from the North Shore Channel to Dewey Avenue.

Funding
Full funding for this project is being provided by a low-interest loan from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Pollution Control Loan Program (WPCLP). The WPCLP is funded from both state and federal sources. The $1,223,702 loan will be repaid over 20 years at an interest rate of 1.11 percent.

FAQs
What’s involved? CIPP lining is completed without expensive and disruptive excavation. Lining work involves inserting a liner into the existing sewer and adhering it to the inner walls of the pipe.
Will my water or sewer service be impacted? During the lining process, please reduce water usage by limiting use of bathroom facilities and refraining from laundry and dishes. Temporarily disconnect any sump pumps that are connected to the combined sewer system.
What’s that odor? The lining process uses a chemical called styrene. Although harmless at these levels, its odor can be prevented by pouring a gallon of water into your basement floor drains.
Any other details? Lining work should take approximately 10 hours to complete at each location. 10-day and 24-hour notices will be provided to impacted buildings. “No Parking” signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of any restrictions. Contractors will follow all COVID-19 safety protocols
