Evanston Police Department Receives Medical Examiner Results in Elise Malary Death Investigation
 EVANSTON, IL - On June 13, 2022, the Evanston Police Department received the findings of the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office investigation into the death of Elise Malary. The Medical Examiner's Office concluded that the cause of Malary’s death was drowning and classified the manner of death as "Undetermined". The Medical Examiner did not find traumatic injuries from at or near the time of death, and the Evanston Police investigation has not revealed circumstances indicating foul play.
Malary, a 31-year-old Evanston resident, was reported missing by a family member on March 11, 2022. On March 17, 2022, the body of Malary was recovered from Lake Michigan by the Evanston Fire Department at Garden Park in the 500 block of Sheridan Square, in Evanston.
The Evanston Police Department will continue to investigative leads in an effort to determine the manner of Malary’s death.
