Commemorating 10 years of service
After a decade of leadership, Executive Director Karen Danczak Lyons is retiring from the Evanston Public Library. Come join us in celebrating her contributions to the Library and the Evanston community, and bid her farewell with an open house on Thursday, June 16 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the community room of the Main Library. Hope to see you there!
Summer reading is for adults too!
|
|
Want to try something new this summer? #ReadInclusive is a summer reading program to inspire adult readers to branch out and pick up books from diverse authors. To participate, pick up a bingo sheet from the 2nd floor desk at the Main Branch Library or from the desk at the Robert Crown library. (Or download a copy and print it out here.)
Suggested reading lists from several genres are available here, or choose a book that is not on these lists, as long as the author of the book comes from a historically marginalized group (LGBTQ+, disabled, BIPOC).
Write the titles you’ve read in the appropriate boxes on your bingo card. Then, choose one free book from our selections at the Main Branch 2nd floor desk every time you complete a bingo!

LITTLE-KNOWN LIBRARY SERVICES
Disrupting Bias Tapestry
The Disrupting Bias Tapestry is designed to bring people together in a shared creative experience that inspires dialogue and action for social change, inspired by The Bias Inside Us traveling exhibit at the Library earlier this spring. This project is an invitation to participate in conversations about conscious and unconscious bias and how we can work to prevent its harmful effects. This tapestry, made by Kids Create Change, symbolizes a weaving together of our collective ideas, stories, and commitments to change. Come check it out on the third floor of the Main Library Branch!
