The City has contracted patching work on large areas of asphalt pavement throughout Evanston to begin May 9. Work is scheduled to be completed within three to six weeks, weather permitting.
This project will involve removing the top two inches of distressed and failing asphalt and replacing it with a fresh, smooth asphalt surface material. Once the asphalt is laid, compacted and cooled, the street will be opened and ready for traffic. This work is anticipated to improve the condition of nearly 37,500 square yards of pavement at approximately 230 locations across the city.
During construction, motorists should expect minor delays near work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews. “No Parking” restrictions for this project should be short in duration and specific to the daily work zones. “No Parking” signs will be posted 48 hours in advance of work and will be removed upon completion.
