Ready for spring cleaning?
Whether you're tidying up your home, yard, or both, the City is here to help!
Food and yard waste pickup: Weekly food and yard waste collections for the 2022 season begin on Mon., April 4.
Bulk trash pickup: Dispose of bulk items for free this spring as part of the City's Bulk Trash Pickup program! Collections take place on Fridays, April 1 through 22. View the schedule and guidelines.
When is it ok to use a leaf blower?
As a reminder, backpack-mounted or hand-held gas-powered leaf blowers are allowed for use between March 30 and May 15 on the following days and hours:
- Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
Using gas-powered leaf blowers is prohibited on City holidays. Violators are subject to fines.
What about electric leaf blowers? Seasonal restrictions do not apply to electric-powered leaf blowers.
Looking ahead: Beginning April 1, 2023, the use of gasoline- and propane-powered leaf blowers will be prohibited in Evanston.

Celebrate Earth Month in April!
Enjoy eco-friendly community events and activities throughout the month!
Ecology Center Celebration: Stop by the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd., on Sat., April 23 from 10 a.m. to noon for family-friendly Earth Month activities.
Self-Organized Neighborhood Clean Up: Clean up a park or public space in your neighborhood! Free gloves and trash bags can be picked up at the Evanston Ecology Center or Robert Crown Community Center beginning Thurs., April 21.

Last year, Evanston was allocated $43 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for COVID-19 pandemic recovery. Since then, City staff have been working diligently to create a comprehensive community-guided Evanston ARPA Plan, which was accepted by the City Council on March 14. Learn more.

Bird's-eye View: EPD Keeps Traffic Flowing
Shout out to the Evanston Police Department and City staff for ensuring safe conditions and continuous traffic flow in the area of Green Bay Road and Foster Street this morning during a gas giveaway event. View aerial photos.
COVID-19 Update

Cases: Evanston reported 86 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last seven days, compared to 63 for the week prior. The current seven-day moving average of daily confirmed cases is 12.29.
To date, Evanston has had 11,257 total confirmed cases, and 145 residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19. View the City’s interactive COVID-19 dashboard (view on mobile).
Positivity rate: The City’s seven-day moving average positivity rate is 1.21 percent, compared to 0.67 percent for the week prior.
Hospitalizations: View local COVID-19 hospitalizations.
Vaccinations: 97.2 percent of residents 5 years and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 87.6 percent are fully vaccinated. View the City’s vaccination data dashboard (view on mobile) for the latest Evanston-specific vaccination data from the IDPH.

Join Downtown Evanston and the Evanston Association of India for Holi Fest, an Indian celebration that marks the beginning of spring and renewal. Head to Raymond Park on Sat., March 26 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Calling all BIPOC artists
Evanston Made's first group show of 2022 will showcase BIPOC artist members at the Evanston Art Center during the month of June. Curated by activist and artist Fran Joy, this exhibit will feature contemporary art works and public programming.
Check out three new art exhibits at once!
This Fri., March 25, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Noyes Cultural Arts Center will welcome three new art exhibits, including a community-made quilt, an installation from conceptual artist Yanira Collado, and an exhibition of images and props from The Actors Gymnasium. The gallery is free and open to the public!
