Every year, Martin Luther King's message of racial equity and elimination of poverty seems more relevant to our lives right now. Celebrate Dr. King with the library:
Celebration of MLK Day, featuring Rev. Eddie Reeves. Online, we'll have some short kids' movies about Martin Luther King Jr, as well as Reverend Reeves's amazing reenactment of the I Have A Dream speech! Monday, January 17, 2 pm: Register now.

3rd Annual Walk for Warmth: Join this family friendly event on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Sponsored by Interfaith Action of Evanston, this walk's purpose is to raise awareness of homelessness and hunger in Evanston. Monday, January 17, 11 am: Registration Required.
Well, what a difference two weeks makes! In response to rising case numbers in our community, the library is now cancelling all in person programs for January. Though some programs will become virtual, some will not. Also, starting January 10, we will require proof of vaccination at the door for everyone 5 years and older. Still, the library is your friend during Winter Break, as both locations are open every day at our regular hours for the remainder of Winter Break. We do require masks, a temperature check at the door, and family groups to stay together.

Young Scientist Book Club: The Leak (Grades 3-5) Love STEM? Love reading? Then here's a book club for you. The Young Scientist Book Club is a fun, interdisciplinary twist on the traditional book club. This session explores The Leak by Kate Petty. - Look at this PBS video about making three kinds of soup (Japanese Ramen, Vietnamese Pho and Italian Pasta E Fagioli) with your child.
- Or make this fabulous Carrot and Parsnip Soup with your younger child! This recipe is easy and awesome. (100 g is 1/2 cup; 500g is a pound/1 lb) and comes from a mom in the UK.

Our Illinois Senator Tammy Duckworth says, "Today, we recognize Korean American Day to celebrate the incredible contributions and sacrifices Korean immigrants made for our great nation. Our nation’s strength lies in the diversity of its people, and I am proud to represent a state with one of the highest Korean populations in our country.
