The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Evanston beginning Wednesday, December 15 at 6 p.m. through Thursday, December 16 at 9 a.m., with the greatest threat for damaging winds between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m.
What you can do

Secure loose outdoor items ahead of time. Patio furniture, holiday decorations, sports equipment, trash cans and other items can become dangerous in high winds. Before a storm hits, bring these items indoors, if possible, or make sure they're secure if outdoors.

Listen for the emergency sirens. The City’s outdoor emergency sirens will sound in the event of a severe weather emergency. If the sirens sound, seek shelter indoors away from windows and glass.
