Let's WINter Together, Evanston!
This week is Winter Weather Preparedness Week in Illinois! Snow and cold can make winter difficult, but when we all pitch in and do our part, we can make the season easier for everyone. Make sure you're ready for the next snowfall by reviewing these helpful winter reminders.
Stay informed: Parking restrictions can be declared following accumulated snowfall. Sign up for convenient text message or email alerts and we'll notify you when it's time to move your vehicle.
Thanksgiving holiday schedule
The City has announced holiday service changes and facility closures for Thanksgiving.
Refuse collections: No refuse collections will occur on Thurs., Nov. 25. Thursday's trash, food and yard waste, and recycling collections will occur on Fri., Nov. 26. Friday condo trash and recycling collections will occur on Sat., Nov. 27. Monday through Wednesday collections will occur as normal.
Parking: Payment is not required at meters, pay stations, and City lots and garages on Thanksgiving.
Last but not least: Look for the City's weekly e-News in your inbox on Wednesday next week instead of Thursday. We don't want to interrupt your Thanksgiving dinner!

Find your new office view in Downtown Evanston!
Downtown Evanston has launched a new campaign, Downtown Evanston Works, to attract new companies to our city center. This yearlong advertising drive positions Downtown Evanston as an ideal location for flexible workspace in a vibrant and accessible setting.
COVID-19 Update

Cases: Evanston reported 54 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last seven days, compared to 59 for the week prior. To date, the city has had 5,638 total confirmed cases, and 121 residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19.
Positivity rate: The City’s seven-day moving average positivity rate is 0.49 percent.
Hospitalizations: View local COVID-19 hospitalizations over the last month.
Vaccinations
87.2 percent of residents 5 years and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine and 77.8 percent are fully vaccinated. View the City’s updated data dashboard (view on mobile) for the latest Evanston-specific vaccination data from the IDPH.
The City partnered with District 65 to host two pediatric vaccination events over the last week.

Get an update on the ADA Transition Plan
Attend a community open house regarding the City's ADA Transition Plan Update tonight, November 18, 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Levy Senior Center, Bobby's Room, 300 Dodge Ave. Learn more at evanstonaccessibility.com.
Help keep guns off the street
As part of efforts to reduce gun violence, the Evanston Police Department will host a gun buyback event on Sat., Dec. 4, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1113 Clark St. Participants will receive $100 per gun and $25 for ammo.
Compost this winter through Collective Resource
Sign up for the Winter Gap Composting Program provided by Collective Resource Compost, the City’s exclusive food scrap hauler. This 16-week program allows you to pay a one-time fee to have a composting bucket dropped off at your residence for weekly or bi-weekly pickup.
Submit a public comment for the Draft 2022 Action Plan
The City will hold a virtual meeting to hear comment on the Draft 2022 Action Plan and Amended Citizen Participation Plan on December 14. The 30-day comment period is now open.
