All are welcome at the Ribbon Cutting and Historic Marker Dedication at McCulloch Park on Sat., Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. This event celebrates the completion of the major renovation of this well-loved park and the dedication of a National Votes for Women Trail Marker for Catherine Waugh McCulloch, lawyer, suffragist, political activist, and life-long supporter of women’s rights.
Provide your feedback on the City Manager Search
Over the next few months, the Evanston City Council will be conducting a national search for the next City Manager. The City Council has contracted with CPS HR to conduct the recruitment process. In order to receive community feedback, all residents are invited to participate in a community survey and upcoming virtual town hall meeting on Sat., Oct. 30, at 10:30 a.m. Your input will help identify the unique and important characteristics necessary for this key position.
New mural featuring "Birds of Concern"
The building at the northwest corner of Central Street and Green Bay Road features a wonderful new mural. Titled “Birds of Concern,” it pictures three Evanston birds—a Red-Headed Woodpecker, an American Kestrel, and a Blackburnian Warbler—whose population is in decline due to climate change and loss of habitat. The mural was sponsored by the Evanston North Shore Bird Club in partnership with Art Encounter and with additional support from the Evanston Arts Council and Central Street Evanston.

 Cookies for Compost
ETHS senior Maia Roothaan was recently awarded a U.S. Department of State's Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund grant to create Cookies for Compost, a free composting program at the Robert Crown Community Center, starting on Sat., Nov. 6 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Maia will be giving out compost buckets, Insomnia Cookies, and information about how to compost. Each week following the launch, participants can bring their compost buckets to Robert Crown between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. each Saturday to drop off their compost in the compost totes. In exchange, participants will get cookies from Insomnia Cookies!

 No tricks, just treats!
Halloween is right around the corner, and you know what that means...it's almost time for some trick-or-treating fun. Evanston's official trick-or-treat hours this year are Sun., Oct. 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Safety Tips: To help your family stay healthy and safe, check out our trick-or-treat guidelines. Households wishing to accommodate trick-or-treaters are encouraged to place individual goodie bags in a designated location for trick-or-treaters to pick up and go while continuing to social distance.
Not participating? No problem. Households that choose not to participate are encouraged to turn their lights off or post signage on their door to discourage visitors.

“It's the Great Pumpkin Compost” Collection
Rescue your Halloween pumpkins and jack-o’-lanterns from withering on the front porch or ending up in the landfill by participating in the City's “It's the Great Pumpkin Compost” collection event on Sat., Nov. 6, 9 a.m. to noon, in the Morton Civic Center parking lot. This free “drive-up, drop-off” event allows residents to compost their plain, clean pumpkins of any size.
