The City will be completing asphalt pavement crack sealing at 31 locations throughout Evanston beginning October 26. The work is expected to take three to four weeks to complete, weather permitting.
This project includes grinding out sections of longitudinal and transverse cracks that have reflected through to the surface. Once the cracks are "routed", a fluid rubberized sealing material is injected back into the crack to seal it against water infiltration. This is an important step in preserving pavement infrastructure.
Drivers should expect short delays in specific work zones as flaggers route traffic around the work crews. "No Parking" restrictions will be short in duration and specific to each work area. The work in each location will take one to four hours to complete. Street sweeping of the debris typically occurs the day after the crack sealing is done.
