Fun fact: 1.4 million gallons of underground stormwater storage at Crown
Did you know: Underneath five acres of landscape and sports fields surrounding the Robert Crown Community Center is space for 1.4 million gallons of stormwater! This underground storage system reduces flooding that might otherwise plague the area if stormwater runoff from the Center’s roof, driveways, sidewalks, and parking lot were discharged into local sewers.
Learn more: Signage (.pdf) explaining the stormwater management system was recently installed next to the sports fields. Thank you to Evanston resident Dick Lanyon (pictured above) for his assistance with this project!
