Cases: Evanston reported 67 new confirmed COVID-19 cases over the last seven days, compared to 48 for the week prior. To date, the city has had 5,148 total confirmed cases, and 121 residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19.
Of the more than 56,000 Evanston residents who have been fully vaccinated, eight individuals have later been hospitalized with COVID-19, including two deaths.
Positivity rate: The City’s seven-day moving average positivity rate is 2.1 percent.
Hospitalizations: View local COVID-19 hospitalizations over the last month.
Vaccinations: View the City’s updated data dashboard (view on mobile) for the latest Evanston-specific vaccination data from the IDPH.
Booster Shots
The CDC continues to recommend third vaccine doses for individuals who are moderately or severely immunocompromised and received the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. Speak with your healthcare provider if you’re unsure if a booster vaccine is right for you.
Where to get the vaccine: Vaccines are free and widely available at a variety of locations, including pharmacies and healthcare providers. Visit vaccines.gov or call 1-800-232-0233 to find a location near you.
What about booster doses for other individuals: On Wednesday, the FDA amended its emergency use authorization for the Pfizer vaccine to allow certain individuals to get a “booster” dose. The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices met this afternoon to review the FDA’s decision and provide a recommendation. More information to come.
Thank you, MRC volunteers!
Last week, Governor Pritzker signed a proclamation officially recognizing the state's Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) volunteers. Since 2020, nearly 150 Evanston MRC members have contributed more than 4,500 volunteer hours to support the City's COVID-19 response. Their roles have included contact tracing, vaccine administration, and clinic support. MRC members range from age 18 to 85 years old! Learn more about MRC.
