“Bike the Ridge” in Evanston on September 26
 EVANSTON, IL - Bicyclists of all ages are invited to pedal up and down Ridge Avenue in Evanston during the annual “Bike the Ridge” event on Sunday, September 26.
Ridge Avenue will be closed to all vehicular traffic and open to bicycles from Howard to Church Streets from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. during this free, non-competitive City-sponsored special event. Mayor Daniel Biss will officially kick off Bike the Ridge at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Howard Street.
During the event, participants are invited to stop by Ridgeville Park, 908 Seward St., to enjoy live music from the Evanston School of Rock, food trucks, and bike repairs.
Health and Safety Guidelines
To ensure a safe event for everyone, the City is asking all participants to follow these health and safety guidelines:
- Participants who are not fully vaccinated must wear a face covering when unable to maintain a six-foot distance from others.
- Individuals should stay home if they are sick or experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.
- Children under age 18 are required to wear bike helmets per City of Evanston ordinance.
- Bike the Ridge is for those on non-motorized bicycles only; motorized bicycles and skateboards are not allowed.
Non-bicyclists are encouraged to walk along Ridge Avenue sidewalks to support the bicyclists. Bicycles are not allowed on Ridge Avenue at any other time of the year.
Reminder for Ridge Avenue Residents
Residents along Ridge Avenue will not be able to use their driveways between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on September 26. Those planning to use their car during that time should park on a side street prior to 8 a.m. that morning.
