EVANSTON, IL - ComEd is working to restore power to approximately 6,000 Evanston customers after severe storms knocked down power lines, trees and branches at locations throughout the city this evening.
City of Evanston Forestry crews and the Evanston Fire Department are responding to multiple reports of downed trees and are coordinating with ComEd to address these issues and clear streets overnight. City of Evanston Public Works staff, including Traffic and Streets Divisions, are also responding to reports of malfunctioning street lights and traffic signals, as well as areas of street flooding and potential sewer issues.
Report/Track Power Outages
Community members can report and track the status of power outages using ComEd’s Outage Map at www.comed.com/Outages/ReportAnOutage or by calling 1-800-EDISON-1.
If you see downed power lines, leave the area immediately and then call ComEd. Representatives are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Report Downed Trees, Branches and Non-Emergency Issues
Downed trees and limbs, traffic signal issues, street flooding, and other non-emergency issues can be reported to Evanston 311 online at www.cityofevanston.org/311 or by calling/texting 847-448-4311. Evanston 311 has opened for several hours this evening, and will open early on Wednesday, August 11 at 6 a.m.
