The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will be performing emergency track reconstruction work this weekend, Saturday, July 17 and Sunday, July 18 and next weekend, Saturday, July 24 and Sunday, July 25 on the Lincoln bridge at Ridge Avenue between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
A crane will be located on Ridge Avenue to load and remove materials from the bridge. There will also be rail borne equipment to assist with rebuilding the track. Therefore, noise will be generated from moving equipment, backup alarms, gas powered tools, loud communication between crew members, and impact noise while restraining the rail. The level of noise will not be continuous throughout the day, but will vary upon different stages. There will be flaggers to maintain traffic flow in both directions, and sidewalk access will be maintained.
The City has granted approval outside of typical construction activity hours, as this an emergency reconstruction of track that must be completed as quickly as possible.
