 Support local businesses
Sidewalk Sale & Chalk Art Contest: Get ready for another weekend of amazing shopping deals from July 22 to 25. Downtown shops will set up racks and tables with too-good-to-resist deals on the sidewalks. Don't forget to check out Downtown Evanston's Sidewalk Chalk Art Contest.
Get Fit Fridays: Get fit with Downtown Evanston this summer! Enjoy a series of free fitness classes on Fridays at Fountain Square Plaza. Get Fit Fridays will showcase health and fitness businesses in downtown Evanston and provide free, fun and healthy activities for all!
Second Installment tax bills will be mailed out late
Due to delays brought on by the pandemic, this year's Cook County 2020 second installment tax bills (.pdf) will be mailed out one month late and will likely be due on September 1.
 Pride Month Celebration Rescheduled
After getting rained out last month, Evanston Pride has rescheduled their Pride Celebration Community Picnic and Candle Lighting Ceremony! Both events will now take place on Sat., July 17.
Community Picnic: Head to Ingraham Park, Simpson Street and Asbury Avenue, at 4 p.m. to enjoy live music by Tiny Bubbles and Evanston's own DJ Serge! You'll also enjoy tables and prizes from local organizations
Candle Lighting & Remembrance Ceremony: Following the community picnic, make your way to the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave., to speeches and reading by local leaders and community members.

Slow Down. Shared Street.
The City is launching a pilot project to allow pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers to safely share the entire length of Greenleaf Street from McDaniel Avenue to Lake Shore Boulevard, beginning Mon., July 19 and ending on Mon., Aug. 16. During this time, the City will place “local access only” signs at major intersections and “slow down, share the road” signs at minor intersections. This pilot project discourages cut-thru traffic on Greenleaf, providing all modes of transportation access to and from commercial and residential areas in Evanston.
