Save the Date — Ward Meeting June 24
Please plan to join me for a 7th Ward meeting on Thurs., June 24, at 7 p.m. I’m hoping that this will be a hybrid meeting, with some of us meeting in person (at the Evanston Ecology Center) and others able to participate via Zoom. More details to come.
In the meantime, is there a topic that you would like to have addressed, either on June 24 or at a future ward meeting? Please send me an email with your suggestions.
Post 42 Concerts Beginning Soon
The City Council approved a special event permit allowing Post 42 to host concerts roughly every other weekend, from June to September, on Fridays and Saturdays, plus one Sunday event on July 4. The concerts will take place on the lawn south of the American Legion building. The schedule is as follows:
June 12; June 18
July 2, 3, and 4; 16 and 17; 30 and 31.
August 20 and 21
September 3 and 4; 17 and 18
Post 42 management is taking steps to control the sound. All the bands will be required to agree in writing that Post 42 will manage the sound, and Post 42 will ensure that the sound does not exceed 75 decibels as measured at the south end of the Post 42 parking lot. In addition, Post 42 has installed a new distributed sound system, with speakers placed throughout the seating area and tools that enable the sound team to limit the sound at the edges of the seating area.

Join the City, elected officials and community partners for an upcoming town hall community meeting on Sat., June 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Robert Crown Community Center. At the meeting, you'll learn about the $43 million in funding the City will receive as part of the American Rescue Plan Act and be able to provide your input on community needs, funding priorities and the City Budget.

Can't make it? Two additional meetings are planned including a virtual meeting on June 17 and an in-person meeting in Spanish on June 29.

 Northwestern Football Schedule
The first game of the 2021 season will be a Friday night game, on Sept. 3, starting at 8 p.m. As with all games, the date and time was determined by the Big Ten Conference. A weekday game requires a significant amount of extra planning and special arrangements, and we will have more information in the weeks ahead.
Tailgating and parking arrangements are still under discussion, and I will have more information in the next ward newsletter.
