 Memorial Day holiday schedule
The City has announced service changes for the Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Refuse collection reminder: No collections will occur on Mon., May 31. Monday through Thursday trash, food and yard waste, and recycling collections will occur one day later in the week than normal. Friday condo recycling collections will occur on Fri., June 4.
Memorial Day Ceremony: Join the Evanston American Legion Post 42 for a Memorial Day community reflection and ceremony honoring America's fallen heroes at Fountain Square on Mon., May 31, at 10:30 a.m.
 Beaches open for the season on Saturday
Beach season is here! Evanston beaches will open for the season this Saturday, May 29 and will remain open through Labor Day.
New this year: Evanston beaches will be free to residents on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays throughout the season. Beach fees apply all other days of the week and for non-Evanston residents.
Beach passes: Smartphone users can purchase their Evanston season and daily beach passes via the Viply app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. Season beach passes will continue to be available for purchase at Evanston community centers.
Fee assistance: Evanston residents who meet the income requirement are eligible to participate in beach pass fee assistance and the free beach pass program. Learn more.
 Starlight Concert Series kicks off on Tuesday
Head out to Arrington Lakefront Lagoon at Dawes Park on Tues., June 1 at 7 p.m. for the first Starlight Concert of the season! Enjoy music by Luciano Antonio, a Brazilian guitarist and singer.

Expanded summer activities for youth
The City has launched a new My City, Your City, Our City initiative, which will provide safe, fun, free and enriching summer activities geared towards youth ages 13 to 18 at parks and community centers throughout the summer. Learn more.
Community Building Kickoff event: Stop by Foster Park on Fri., June 4 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to enjoy free food, an obstacle course, and a variety of games.
COVID-19 Update
Vaccinations
67 percent of eligible Evanston residents now fully vaccinated
 As of May 24, 83 percent of Evanston residents 12 years and older have received at least one vaccine dose, and 67 percent are fully vaccinated.
View the City’s updated data dashboard (view on mobile) for the latest Evanston-specific vaccination data from the IDPH. To date, the City has directly administered or distributed more than 34,000 vaccine doses.
Where to get your shot
COVID-19 vaccines are safe, effective and free, and vaccination appointments are widely available.
Find a location near you: Visit vaccines.gov to find a vaccination appointment—you can even filter search results by vaccine type (Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson).
ETHS vaccination event: Evanston Township High School (ETHS) will host another Pfizer vaccination clinic on Wed., June 2 for any student attending ETHS next year. Learn more and register for an appointment.
Need a ride?
In partnership with the White House, Lyft and Uber will provide funding for rides to and from tens of thousands of vaccination sites.
Cases and Positivity Rates
Confirmed daily cases and positivity rate decrease
 Evanston’s seven-day moving average of daily cases decreased to 1.71 new cases per day—the lowest since July 2020. Zero cases were reported today in Evanston. The city has had 4,634 total confirmed cases to date, and 117 residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19.
As of May 24, the seven-day rate of new cases per 100,000 residents decreased in Evanston (16.33), Skokie (90.91), Chicago (64.81) and Illinois (63.5). The City’s seven-day moving average positivity rate is 0.25 percent, compared to 0.65 percent one week ago.

Keep yourself and others safe, don't use fireworks
With the Memorial Day holiday coming up, please remember to be a good neighbor and keep yourself and others safe by not using fireworks. Fireworks are prohibited in Evanston because they are dangerous and can be distressing to individuals and pets that are sensitive to loud noises. Violators are subject to citations.

The City has moved to a new utility billing system customer payment portal. On your first visit to the portal, you'll be required to set up your services and payment method for auto-pay and paperless billing. Remember, you can pay your water utility bill online.

Help reduce the risk of basement and street flooding by limiting or delaying water usage during heavy rain events. Sign up for Evanston "Rain Alert" notifications by texting COE RAIN to 468311 or online.
