City Beaches to Open for the Season on May 29
EVANSTON, IL - The City of Evanston's Parks and Recreation Department has announced that Evanston beaches will open for the season on Saturday, May 29 and will remain open through Labor Day, Monday, September 6.
New this year, all City beaches will be free to Evanston residents on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays throughout the season. Residents must purchase a season or daily beach pass to visit Evanston beaches on the remaining days of the week. Non-residents must still purchase a season or daily beach pass to visit Evanston beaches.
Smartphone users can purchase their Evanston season and daily beach passes via the Viply app, an authorized mobile beach pass vendor of Evanston beaches. The Viply app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play. After creating an account in the app, users should select 'City of Evanston' and then select the type and amount of beach passes to be purchased. Mobile beach passes can be redeemed by scanning in at beach entrances.
Season beach passes will continue to be available for purchase at the Robert Crown Community Center, Levy Senior Center, Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, Ecology Center and Chandler-Newberger Community Center during their office hours. Season passes will also be sold at the Dempster Street Beach Office, 1251 Lakeshore Blvd., and Clark Street Beach Office, 1811 Sheridan Rd. Payments can be made with cash, personal checks and credit cards. The Morton Civic Center is currently closed to visitors, and beach passes will not be available at this location.
Daily admission prices are $10 per person. Children under the age of one may enter beaches for free. Daily admission passes, which will allow entrance to Evanston's swimming beaches, will only be sold at the Dempster Street Beach Office and Clark Street Beach Offices.
A season beach pass is valid from the time of purchase through Labor Day, Monday, September 6, 2021. Season passes will be sold at a discounted rate of $30 for Evanston and Skokie residents and $46 for nonresidents.
