Next Skate Park Public Meeting, May 25
Join the conversation regarding a new Evanston skate park at a virtual meeting on Tues., May 25, at 5:30 p.m. City staff will review public survey results, share short-term and long-term plans, and gather further public input and ideas.

Qualifying households can get up to a $50 monthly discount on broadband Internet service as part of the FCC's Emergency Broadband Benefit Program!

COVID-19 Update
Earlier today, the City hosted a 2nd dose vaccination clinic at St. Nicholas Church in partnership with NorthShore University HealthSystem. The City continues to work with local public health partners, non-profits, and faith-based organizations to make vaccines accessible to all community members.

Keep up the good work: As of May 10, 80.5 percent of Evanston residents 16 and older have received at least one vaccine dose, and 61.6 percent are fully vaccinated, outpacing county, state and federal vaccination rates.
Youth 12 years and older now eligible for the Pfizer vaccine
This week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) approved the Pfizer vaccine as safe and effective for youth ages 12 to 15 years old. Vaccinations are available through a variety of providers, including:
City of Evanston - The City will host a COVID-19 vaccination event to provide the Pfizer vaccine to individuals 12 years or older who live or work in Evanston on Fri., May 21, 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Blomquist Recreation Center, 617 Foster St. A registration link for this event will be available on the City’s COVID-19 Vaccination page beginning Fri., May 14 at noon.
Evanston Township High School is also tentatively planning a vaccination event for youth 12 years and older on Sat., May 22; stay tuned for details.
Cook County - Walk-in vaccinations and appointments are now available for individuals 12 years and older at Cook County Mass Vaccination sites, including the nearest location in Des Plaines.
Other trusted providers - The State of Illinois provides a list of vaccination locations offering both scheduled and walk-in vaccinations.

Cases and Positivity Rate
Confirmed daily cases decrease

Evanston’s seven-day moving average of daily cases decreased to 4.43 new cases per day, compared to 8.14 new cases one week ago. Two cases were reported today in Evanston. The city has had 4,596 total confirmed cases to date, and 117 residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19.
As of May 12, the seven-day rate of new cases per 100,000 residents decreased in Evanston (55.8), Skokie (86.12), Chicago (105.35) and Illinois (103.53).
Positivity rate decreases
The City’s seven-day moving average positivity rate decreased to 0.55 percent compared to 0.77 percent one week ago. Local COVID-19 hospital admissions decreased.
Safe Reopening
Illinois to Enter Restore Illinois “Bridge to Phase 5” on Friday
Illinois will enter the “Bridge to Phase 5” on Fri., May 14, further increasing capacity limits for dining, offices, events, conferences and gatherings as the state moves towards a safe recovery. Barring any significant reversals in key COVID-19 statewide indicators, Illinois could enter Phase 5 as soon as Fri., June 11.

The City's next Emergency Food Pantry will take place on Wed., May 19, 10 a.m. to noon, at James Park. Register by May 17.
Rent assistance available!
If you're having trouble making rent payments due to a COVID-19 loss of income or hardship, multiple rent assistance programs are available for eligible Evanston residents.
