Beach passes on sale now!
Beach season is right around the corner, with swimming beaches scheduled to open on May 29! Evanston residents can now purchase digital beach passes for the 2021 season using the Viply app or physical beach passes at all Evanston community centers.
Farmers' market season has arrived
The Downtown Evanston Farmers’ Market will kick off its 46th season this weekend on Sat., May 1 with over 60 vendors selling everything from fruit to flowers to baked goods! The Market will be open every Saturday through November 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at University Place and Oak Avenue.
Support local artisans: Head to the Maple Avenue Parking Garage after visiting the farmers' market to check out the Maker's Market featuring hundreds of handmade goods, including art, crafts, jewelry, handbags and more! Purchase tickets for Saturday.
Is your dog feeling cooped up from winter?
Attend our next public discussion to learn and provide feedback on the potential for a new dog park in Evanston! The virtual discussion will be held via Zoom on Wed., May 5 at 5 p.m. and will include a review of the prior meeting, public survey results and shortlisted potential dog park locations, as well as an open discussion.

Vaccinations
Evanston residents receive the COVID-19 vaccine at Blomquist Recreation Center
Vaccination progress
The City continues to host vaccination events each week to administer doses received from the State.
- On Wednesday, the City administered approximately 700 doses to individuals 18 years and older.
- On Thursday, the City administered 15 in-home vaccinations to homebound individuals. Following the guidance of the CDC, FDA and IDPH, the Evanston Health and Human Services Department has lifted the pause on the administration of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine and will be resuming its use for in-home vaccinations.
- On Friday, the City will be administering over 200 second doses and has the capacity to administer approximately 350 first doses to individuals 18 and older who live or work in Evanston. Register for a first dose appointment.
View the City’s updated data dashboard (view on mobile) for the latest Evanston-specific vaccination data from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The dashboard includes those who’ve received the vaccine at City vaccination events and through other providers.

Confirmed daily cases
Evanston’s seven-day moving average of daily cases increased to 11 new cases per day, compared to 8.71 new cases one week ago. Seven cases were reported today in Evanston. The city has had 4,508 total confirmed cases to date, and 116 residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19.
As of April 28, the seven-day rate of new cases per 100,000 residents increased in Evanston (114.33) and Skokie (151.52) and decreased in Chicago (136.97) and Illinois (149.17).
Positivity rate
The City’s seven-day moving average positivity rate slightly decreased to 1.17 percent compared to 1.19 percent one week ago. Local COVID-19 hospital admissions are stable.
Mayor Hagerty hosts his final Coronavirus Q&A
Get an update on the City’s COVID-19 response and the latest progress on vaccinations during a “Coronavirus Q&A” on Thurs., May 6 at noon. Mayor Steve Hagerty will host the live question and answer session, which will include members of the City’s Health & Human Services Department, Peter Gaan, Evanston Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) member, and Elizabeth Hicks, Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member.
Watch on City Channel 16 or tune in live on the City’s Facebook page or YouTube channel. A recording of the session will be available following the event. Residents are encouraged to submit questions in advance or live during the event using the City's online question form or by commenting on the Facebook Live broadcast.

ICYMI, the City held a Public Open House for the Oakton Street Corridor Study last Thursday to share information and gather feedback. You can still participate by viewing the virtual open house and taking the second study survey by May 31.

The Evanston History Center will be holding their annual Mother’s Day House Walk-By beginning Sunday, May 9. This year's program tells the story of Evanston’s unique Prairie School architecture and focuses on homegrown architects with international reputations. Purchase tickets!

In honor of Earth Month, City directors spent part of their morning on Tuesday cleaning up garbage throughout Evanston before their weekly team meeting!
