Every year on April 22, millions of people throughout the world come together to commemorate Earth Day. Help us celebrate by coming out this Saturday for a variety of community events, including an Ecology Center celebration, tree planting at the Ladd Arboretum, and beach cleanups!
Downtown Evanston Farmers’ Market returns
The Downtown Evanston Farmers’ Market will kick off its 46th season on Sat., May 1 with over 60 vendors selling everything from fruit to flowers to baked goods! The Market will be open every Saturday, May 1 through November 6, from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at University Place and Oak Avenue.
Even more next door: On the first Saturday of every month in the Maple Avenue Parking Garage next to the Farmers' Market, Evanston Made and Downtown Evanston will host a Maker's Market featuring hundreds of handmade goods, including art, crafts, jewelry, handbags and more! Purchase tickets today for the first event on May 1.

COVID-19 Update
Vaccinations
The City has partnered with Northwestern University to expand its capacity to administer vaccines to the community, administering approximately 900 doses on Wednesday alone. Vaccination progress
The City continues to host vaccination events each week to administer doses received from the State.
- On Wednesday, the City administered approximately 900 doses to individuals 30 years and older.
- On Thursday, the City administered 20 in-home vaccinations to homebound individuals and held an on-site vaccination event for 100 community members at Faith Temple Church in partnership with NorthShore University HealthSystem
- On Friday, the City will administer approximately 900 doses to individuals 18 and older who live or work in Evanston. Register for an appointment.
View the City’s updated data dashboard (view on mobile) for the latest Evanston-specific vaccination data from the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The dashboard includes those who’ve received the vaccine at City vaccination events and through other providers.

Confirmed daily cases
Evanston’s seven-day moving average of confirmed daily cases decreased to 8.71 new cases per day, compared to 9.71 new cases one week ago. Fourteen cases were reported today in Evanston. The city has had 4,431 total confirmed cases to date, and 116 residents have died of illness or complications related to COVID-19.
As of April 21, the seven-day rate of new cases per 100,000 residents decreased in Evanston (78.94), Skokie (138.67), Chicago (166.19), and Illinois (162.71).
Positivity rate
The City’s seven-day moving average positivity rate increased to 1.19 percent compared to 0.98 percent one week ago. Local COVID-19 hospital admissions are stable.

Second Public Discussion on New Dog Park

Beach passes go on sale starting Monday
Beach season is right around the corner! Evanston beach passes for the 2021 season will be available for purchase beginning April 26. Public swimming beaches are scheduled to open on May 29.

Community Calendar
CERT and MRC volunteers, City staff, and Evanston Fire Department staff at a recent vaccination clinic.
As part of National Volunteer Week, we'd like to recognize all those who have generously volunteered their time to support the community’s COVID-19 response, including members of the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
In 2021 alone, CERT and MRC members contributed 3,200 volunteer hours, assisting with contact tracing, conducting case investigations, and supporting more than 30 vaccination clinics. Thank you to those who've volunteered their time and energy to support the needs of our community.
