Message from the Mayor
In case you missed it, read Mayor Hagerty’s message from earlier today for some good news on vaccinations.
Progress this week
Below is a summary of vaccines distributed and administered this week:
- On Tuesday, the City administered 1st doses to approximately 500 individuals 67 years and older as well as educators
- Today, the City administered 2nd doses to residents at two congregate living facilities
- On Friday, the City will administer approximately 600 1st doses to residents 65 years and older as well as educators
Next week and beyond
Below is a summary of vaccines anticipated to be administered next week:
- The City anticipates completing 2nd dose vaccinations at Evanston congregate living and shelter facilities next week
- The City is planning to hold two 1st dose vaccination events for individuals 65 years and older and educators
- The City anticipates beginning in-home vaccinations for homebound residents next week. Plans are being finalized.
As noted in the mayor’s message, 88 percent of Evanston residents 65 years and older have now received at least one vaccine dose — that’s compared to approximately 70 percent for suburban Cook County. The City expects that all residents in this group will have the opportunity to receive at least their first vaccine dose by the end of March.
FAQ: What is the current status of vaccinations at the City, County and State Level?
State: Governor Pritzker today announced that the state will expand vaccine eligibility to all Illinois residents 16 years of age or older on April 12. The City’s Health & Human Services Department will have more information to share about how this will impact vaccine distribution in Evanston in the coming weeks.
County: Yesterday, Cook County announced that Evanston residents now have access to its mass vaccination sites. Residents can sign up now. New appointments are expected to be released on Friday at noon. The County also announced that it will open up mass vaccination sites to all residents in Phase 1B+ starting Monday.
City: As noted above, the City anticipates completing first dose vaccinations for nearly all residents 65 and older this month. The City will then shift its focus to vaccinating individuals in both Phase 1B and Phase 1B+ concurrently. This includes frontline essential workers, such as grocery store workers, public transit workers and manufacturers, as well as those with comorbidities and underlying conditions as defined by the CDC.
Need help finding a vaccine appointment?
The state has launched a multi-lingual toll-free Vaccine Appointment Call Center, at 833-621-1284. The call center has English and Spanish speaking call agents with the availability for translation into other languages. You can also explore trusted vaccine providers online.
Reminder: Complete the City’s Vaccination Contact Form
If you haven’t already, please complete Evanston’s Vaccination Contact Form (español) so that the City can contact you as soon as the vaccine is available to you. If you’re 65 years and older AND homebound due to a medical condition or are otherwise unable to attend a City vaccination event, please complete the In-Home COVID-19 Vaccination Contact Form.

Cast your ballot! Early voting begins Monday
Early voting for the April 6 Consolidated General Election will take place March 22 through April 5 at the Morton Civic Center, Room G300. The election includes races for local school boards, city clerk, and all nine aldermanic wards, including the 4th and 8th Wards, which required a Primary Election in February to narrow down the field of candidates.
Who's on my ballot? Use the Cook County Clerk's Your Voter Information tool to find out which candidates are on your ballot and more.
Where can I drop off my mail ballot? View mail ballot drop box locations, including Skokie Courthouse. A drop box will not be available at the Morton Civic Center.
Complete our dog park and skate park surveys
Whether you're a dog owner, skateboarder, or just an interested neighbor, we want to hear from you! Provide your input and help select the location of a potential new dog park and skate park by completing two short surveys.
The deadline to complete both is April 1.
 Transfer your parking time!
Did you know about the ParkEvanston Time Transfer Program? Drivers who use the ParkEvanston mobile app to pay for parking can park in multiple locations during their session.
How does it work? You can move your vehicle to another parking zone of an equal hourly rate without completing a separate payment, as long as you have time remaining on your session. Best of all, time automatically transfers to any zone with the same hourly rate; no action is needed. View ParkEvanston FAQs.
Do you have an unpaved alley?
View the City's 2021 alley maintenance schedule. Each year, the City's approximately 300 unpaved alleys are periodically graded to eliminate potholes and ruts caused by vehicles, weather and other factors.
