Appointments Available to Other Phase 1B+ Individuals Beginning March 7
EVANSTON, IL - Beginning Thursday, March 4 at 8:30 a.m., all Illinois residents 65 years and older, including Evanston residents, may register for their first COVID-19 vaccination at the United Center, in Chicago.
The federal vaccination site will open on March 9 and has the capacity to administer 6,000 doses per day, with all doses provided directly by the federal government. More than 100,000 appointments will be available over three days after registration opens.
Following this appointment period exclusive to seniors, on Sunday, March 7 at 4 p.m., any remaining appointments will be available for other Illinois residents eligible as part of Phase 1B+.
Vaccines will be offered at no cost, and insurance is not required or requested. Documentation regarding immigration status is also not required.
Illinois residents can make an appointment online or by phone:
- To register online, visit zocdoc.com/vaccine. Zocdoc will show real-time appointment availability and eligible residents will then be able to select a date and time and book an appointment. Date of birth will be required when booking an appointment to confirm vaccine eligibility.
- To register by phone, call 312-746-4835. A multilingual call center will be available to help seniors make an appointment from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Residents who are able to register online are encouraged to do so, given anticipated high demand.
The site will operate seven days a week for eight weeks under the federal government’s vaccination pilot program. The facility will be managed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) with support from the Department of Defense, State of Illinois, Cook County and City of Chicago.
Residents who receive their first dose at the United Center will also have to receive their second dose at that location.
The United Center site is separate from the City of Evanston’s vaccine distribution efforts; however, residents who are eligible for a vaccine and able to secure an appointment at the United Center are encouraged to do so.
For more information, visit cityofevanston.org/vaccine or call/text 847-448-4311. For convenience, residents may simply dial 311 in Evanston.
