Alderman Peter Braithwaite and the City of Evanston's Economic Development team are hosting a meeting via Zoom for businesses located along Main Street between Dodge Avenue and the North Shore Canal to gauge the interest in implementing a new West Main Street Merchant District. All businesses located within this area are invited to join.
The purpose of this meeting is to introduce one another, idea share, discuss potential City funding, and begin the formal process of creating the business association.

Creating a new merchant district will provide an opportunity for the businesses located within this area to connect with each other to encourage collaboration and support beautification and marketing efforts for the district. In addition to networking benefits, merchant districts are eligible to receive up to $10,000 annually through the City's Great Merchants Grant program for streetscaping and placemaking projects, marketing and promotion, district events, and technical assistance.
We have had success with other merchant districts including Central Street, West Village, Howard Street, Noyes, Hill Arts, West End, and Foster/Maple. Photos of previous projects funded through the Great Merchant Grants are shown below.
