Celebrate Valentine's Day by reading a great book together. We've created a list for you: Love is All Around: Children's Books to Celebrate Valentine's Day! You can also make a heart craft using a paper plate, a hole punch and some colorful string or yarn to give to a loved one! Or share some love with the birds with a grapefruit bird feeder!
Valentine's Day Storytime and Crafts: Join us for stories, songs, and a fun craft. To make the craft in real time with Ms. Kim, pick up a craft kit at the Main Library starting Wednesday,February 3. Most appropriate for ages 3-7, but all are welcome. Wednesday, February 10, 6 pm. Register
Your Perfect Match! Find a new book to love with LitMatch! We want to match you, no matter your age, to....your next favorite book! Go to the Evanston Public Library Facebook page on Thursday, February 11 from 2-8 pm and Friday, February 12 from 12-6 pm and ask EPL staff to recommend your next read! Lunar New Year, starting Friday, February 12th, is a huge celebration throughout the world. Pre-pandemic, you could enjoy Chinese New Year celebrations from Sydney to San Francisco and everywhere between. Many other Asian countries also celebrate their own Lunar New Year: Vietnam, Korea, Laos and Singapore.
You can celebrate too! Starting Monday, February 1, pick up our Double Happiness Craft Kit from either the Main Library or the Robert Crown Library Branch. The kit includes two activities to make: an adorable Ox to celebrate the Year of the Ox and a Red Envelope (hóngbāo). These special red envelopes are traditionally filled with money and gifted to loved ones.
Then, watch this short celebration video with a bilingual reading of Grace Lin's Bringing in the New Year and the popular Chinese New Year song, Gong xi, Gong xi!

Tomas and the Library Lady Theater Party! Join Northwestern University's Imagine U theater for an virtual preview of their upcoming play, Thomas and the Library Lady.
