Please join me and Ald. Revelle for a joint ward meeting on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. Our program will feature two guest speakers:
- Dino Robinson, Founder of Shorefront Legacy Center, will discuss the history of Evanston’s Black community and the discriminatory practices and policies that have shaped housing patterns in our community today.
- 5th Ward Alderman Robin Rue Simmons will discuss the Evanston Reparations Program and the restorative housing programs proposed to address these past discriminatory practices.

COVID-19 vaccination update
Help the City better understand local vaccine demand and support ongoing planning and distribution efforts by completing Evanston’s Vaccination Interest Form. (View Spanish form.)
All individuals 16 years and older who live OR work in Evanston are encouraged to complete the form to receive regular updates on the vaccine process and when and where the vaccine will be available to them. This is not a vaccine registration form.

 Celebrate MLK Jr. Day with virtual events
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, join a panel of young, gifted, Black Evanstonians for a thoughtful conversation about the history and future of civil and human rights in Evanston and America. Tune in to the broadcast on Mon., Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. on Fleetwood-Jourdain Theatre’s Facebook Page or YouTube Channel.
More ways to celebrate: Enjoy a live-streamed concert from the Music Institute of Chicago, Northwestern University candlelight vigil, and more.
Holiday schedule: The City has announced changes in service delivery and facility schedules in recognition of the holiday. No refuse or recycling collections will occur on Mon., Jan. 18. Monday through Thursday collections will occur one day later than normal.
Neighborhood Arts Grant Opportunities
The Evanston Arts Council is now accepting applications through its Neighborhood Arts Grant Program for special projects, programs, or events that serve the Evanston community. The program will provide funding for up to 50% of the project’s total budget, including in-kind donations, up to a maximum of $1,000. Grants will be awarded on a first-come-first-served basis throughout the calendar year, until the program fund is depleted.

 Apply for a Northwestern Racial Equity and Community Partnership Grant
Northwestern is seeking applicants for its new Racial Equity and Community Partnership grants program, which provides $500,000 in funding to support ideas that combine University and community assets to solve problems in local neighborhoods. Interested community-based organizations should submit a proposal for funding by February 11.
 Help keep everyone safe this winter
As a reminder, property owners and occupants are responsible for clearing a path at least 36 inches wide on sidewalks within 24 hours after any accumulation of snow or ice, including crosswalks and accessibility ramps.
