Ribbon Cutting

Today, I am pleased to announce the launch of the Reimagine Campaign!

Our Library is a critical part of the Evanston community, and we are working hard to ensure that the Library is welcoming, accessible and a vital resource to all.  That is why we are working so hard to pivot during these times and still move our equity work forward.

For example, here is a fraction of the work that has happened at the Library this year:

The new Robert Crown Library Branch is providing community-based services in both English and Spanish in neighborhoods that have traditionally been underserved by the Library.

Beginning in March, much of the Library’s work transitioned to online access.  More than 100 You Tube videos are available, including children’s story time, nursery rhyme time, singing in Spanish, how to use Microsoft Word, watching the falcons hatch, and how to cook a Juneteenth dinner, plus much, much more.

To ensure everyone has Internet access, we are lending WiFi hotspots and laptop computers.  At the Robert Crown branch, there’s even a new EPL laptop vending machine!

The Library went fine free, an important step for increasing access for all.

The Board of Trustees, along with the Racial Equity Taskforce, issued an Equity Statement, affirming our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

We have issued approximately 2,000 new library cards since March.

All of this, and so much more, is about reimagining how and where we serve. Together, we are creating a library that serves us all and we need your support! Join us as we continue this journey:  volunteer, share your comments, join our board meetings, and donate today!

Your donation helps open doors to all the possibilities.

Together, We Are The Library

Thank you,
