Join the 8-Bit Challenge
Get started Saturday, October 24, 10 am, at the virtual, livestream tutorial!
Students in grades 4-8 are invited to design a video game using MakeCode Arcade, include core game elements, and submit by the December 5 deadline. Register for this Saturday's livestream tutorial on October 24 at 10 am. (After that, if you have questions about your project come to our Zoom drop-in, Monday, October 26 at 2 pm to pick our mentors' brains.)
Never designed a video game before? We've got you covered. Check out the 8-Bit Challenge YouTube Channel for 20+ video tutorials. We'll also host livestream tutorials every Saturday through December 5th.
Visit https://evanstem.org/ for more info.
Submit your game by the December 5 deadline to be entered into a prize raffle. The more gaming elements included in your video game, the better prizes you can win. We'll feature the top games, celebrate all participants, and pick raffle winners in a citywide live stream showcase on December 12th.
This event is in partnership with EvanSTEM, MetaMedia, Family Focus, Science in Society, and Northwestern University - Office of Community Education Partnerships. Funding provided by Motorola Solutions Foundation, National Science Foundation, and Northwestern University - Office of Community Education Partnerships.
